WISDOM IN THE SAND - The playful birds sing a chorus

THE
STORY:
Listening to the chorus of sea gulls playfully flying overhead on their way home to roost for the evening left me wondering about rest and playfulness. Inquisitive to see how they would respond I threw a stone in the water to get their attention. They were attracted to the ripples gloriously reflecting the clouds evening colours and as I contemplated the scene a beautiful peace came over me. .
I looked at the sand, the water, the colours, the clouds and the animated frivolities of the gull, comparing it with the turmoil published in the daily newspapers. It dawned on me how much in life there was to be grateful for and to appreciate the simple things presented to us each day. The lesson for me was to keep my mind bathed in things of praise and beauty rather than complaint and the dark messages reported daily as worthy of news. I do not deny the suffering but it is easy to get depressed when I continually see and reading the negatives of the doom and gloom editorials.
For me writing the poem "Wisdom in the Sand" is about a better way to use my mind, to be optimistic and to enjoy the healthy choices I have been given.
