A TREASURY OF PLEASURES - how warm to my blood

THE
STORY:
What a story. I went for an 8am paddle on my SUP (Stand Up and Paddle Board) out to a reef in the Ragout Harbour, Kari Kari Peninsular, New Zealand. I was curious to see why all the Gulls and Terns were dive bombing the water and causing a boil up (Kiwi slang for a feeding frenzy of birds attacking surface fish for food).
After my curiosity was satisfied, I turned around and saw some great reflections of the Shags basking in the sunlight and thought what a marvelous photo opportunity as long as I could get close enough to them with my point and shoot underwater camera. Quietly I paddled to the reef and moored about three body lengths in front of them. Fantastic – they just watched me as I joined them, the sun warm on our backs. I took the photos I wanted and was happy with the result. Then I heard a noise behind me which sounded like a small boat drifting in the outgoing tide. I turned around and another adventure began.
Dolphins! A pod of about fifteen of them swimming through the channel, perhaps six body lengths away from me. How fast did I move to become part of this wonder? Sorry, you will have to wait for the story to unfold in another Fotopoem to come later.
