AND OMEGA - There is a beginning and an end

THE
STORY:
Inspired
by the Southern Black Backed Gull (a large New Zealand seagull) on Omaha Beach, New Zealand,
I was fascinated by their largeness, cleanness and grace in the
air. They also have a unique intelligence. I have watched them select
a shellfish from the beach, fly up over the nearby sand dunes
and dropping it from a certain height onto the bitumen road below
the delicacy within was exposed to be eaten. One drop to satisfy a hunger rather than 4 drops on the beach. Consequently
the road is covered in broken shells evidencing a creature habit built upon memory and knowledge.
I am technically challenged by this painting as I had to create a depth of field (photographic word for focus area) 3D effect.
As I contemplated the action of this junior gull with the oyster (original item
in the beak) I wondered what was going on and then realized how
much time had gone by. Hence the beginning and the end. It all led
to me thinking about a place in time and the discovery that Alpha and Omega (beginning and end) can only
find it's place within eternity, not outside eternity. This intrigued me. On further investigation I saw a pattern of life, death and mortality when I recalled a spoken word recorded by one of Jesus's disciples. "If you want eternal life come and drink from the waters of life" He will give you His spirit that your end may have its beginning in His. To the thirsty He says "Come and drink" and so I will include a glass of refreshing water as an invite reminder of His words that will never fade away. Eternity will never end because it is spirit, whereas this earth, as wonderful as it is, and all that is in it has a use by date, a beginning and an end. If you drink as I have, you to will see what I see and find the joy of living.
