THE
STORY:
After having studied some of Michelangelo's and Dali's works over the past two years I was impressed with their workload and versatility of skills. I visited Dali's exhibition in Melbourne, Australia in 2009 and came away awe inspired. I challenged myself to draw on all the combined skills and disciplines I have learned at the hands of my contemporaries over the past 35 years and try to follow in the footsteps of these great artists with their multiple gifts. I am indebted to their legacy and The Divine for such an opportunity. This is a second chance to discover what I might be capable of with my gifts in leaving my mark, under His guidance and inspiration, on this wonderful planet.
This leather carving will be a physically demanding challenge with attention to detail, constant carving and beveling leaving my, much older, fingers in a regular state of distress from over use. Now that I know about RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) I can at least take more discerning rests in the production.
This project was started around 1982 and has been in the collection of the artist, numerous spiders and a multitude of dust mites since then. It has been resurrected to see new life in 2011.
